I have been keeping a close eye on Charity who is a rex female, possible pregnant, 10 week old female.

Her feet have looked a little pinker than the other rats since she arrived here but never having a rex before and not 100% sure of her history i have just been watching her. All was good until this morning when i noticed her pink little feet are flaking, the skin seems dry almost like dermatitis in humans. Nowhere else is effected just her 4 little feet.

Any ideas?

thanks

Hi Jo,

Thanks for replying.

It doesn't seem to bother her. Looks a little dry to me, maybe the girl just needs a pamper day to have her hands, feet and face massaged LOL.

Not sure we have oatmeal ointment here..

My vet recommended Aveeno hand cream with oatmeal for my nakkies. Maybe it would help with her feet too? Good luck with your sweetie.

Mamarat could you please provide a link to the product you used. I am in Western Australia and may be able to source something similar or even the same product if i know what i am looking for.

Thanks
Aimee

Feed her a lil bit of Olive Oil or Flax Seed Oil a day, either on your finger or on a piece of something. It will keep her skin and coat looking good.

No Problem, my boys have really dry tails, so they get it everyday, and about once a month I rub a lil olive oil on thir tails, works really well.

LOL, I know it sounds gross, all of them love it, I don't even have to put it on anything haha. Works wonders though

Just a quick update..

Charity's feet sorted themselves out as fast as they became in issue. I am assuming she was marinating where she was sleeping and it was causing irritation but once i changed the hammocks every other day she has been fine.

No babies for her either which is awesome
