Wylie and Cesar are two of Leila's boys and VERY sick.
They belong to my Niece Kerry but Holly and I have been taking care of them.
There lungs are so congested that trying to feed and water them is impossible.
I called Shelagh for help.
She has graciously decided to take them to live at her house.
Not many people would go that extra mile to help a friend like she does.
11:30pm she came to my house to help these two boys breathe better before taking them home.
It looks bad for Wylie but with time Cesar should have a better healthy life.
 THANK YOU  THANK YOU  THANK YOU Sheila for taking these sweet loving boys in.
They get to sleep with Shelagh and Jhora tonight. :joy:
I watched you and your siblings being born and was blessed to have known you for 17 months.
I will miss you terribly but I am comforted knowing that Shelagh will love them like I do.
I miss you already. :sad3:

Kisses for Cesar.

Poor sick Wylie.

My sweet boys. I love you!!

Ahhh sadly Wylie passed this morning at 3 am. He had no lung capacity left and wasn't getting enough oxygen in, no matter what I did. He quietly passed in my arms with weirdly enough no real struggle, he just stopped breathing.

Cesar is rough as well, but much brighter and he's been drinking Ensure, and cuddling with Johari. He's also been feeling better enough to wander around and explore, which is always a good sign.

Pics of Wiley, such a sweet sweet boy. :sad3:

The only way he was actually standing was because he was propped
upright by the other rats and the pillows.

I am so sorry that Wylie didn't make it. (((hugs))) to you. Respiratory infections are so terrible and can get worse so fast.

Scratches to Cesar-- wishing him a good recovery.

:cry4: I was so hoping Wylie would make it.
3 ratties gone in less than a week has left me devastated.
I spent so much time with them trying to help.
I loved them like my own.
I'm just back from an all night visit to the emergency vet for my kitty Phantom who fell 10 feet and hurt himself.
After x rays and pain meds he is sleeping soundly next to me in bed.
He has bruising and swelling but should be fine in a couple of days.
I have had little or no sleep in the last 4 days.
I know I tried my best but it still hurts so much.
Thank you Shelagh for being with Wylie at the end. :hugs:
I would like to bring him home to be buried with the others.
The same with Cesar when the time comes.
Rest in Peace sweet boy, your life ended way to soon.

I asked myself why do I keep getting rats when it hurts so much when they die?
Because not ever having them to love would be so much worse.
Losing him so young and so quickly tears my heart out.
Keep fighting Cesar!!
I love you. :hugs:
Baby Wylie.

Cesar is comfortably esconced in his Cozy Corner double decker...he's even eating some romaine lettuce right now :joy:

That makes me SO happy!!!! :cloud9:
How's Jhora doing?
Was that her little nose in the pix with Wylie and Cesar?
GO CESAR!!!!

That was Johari's nose. She's not well, but she's much more comfortable now, and seems happy in her new state.

I'll try him on more foods later on once he's rested...his breathing is not great but not as laboured, but he hated having the meds syringed into him. :(

I bet you have tonnes of scratches.
Give him kisses for me.
I look into his cage where last week there was 5 and now there is just Dexter.
Dexter is beginning to sound very wheezy like the other boys. :gaah:
Why would they all getting sick so fast?
Mine are fine but Lily's boys are starting to sound congested.
I will try my best to keep them healthy.
Time to sleep as I have been awake for over 24 hours.
Shelagh?
YOU ROCK!!!

Usually around 18 months a rat's body changes, the hormones change in girlies alloweing mammary tumours to develop, the immune system is not as effective and that's why you will see older rats start to become sick. These boys may be aging faster than most as well.
