So I'm pretty sure Morgan has worms (fecal sample was taken to the vet this morning). I don't know what kind yet, have to phone around noon. I'm worried that they can be transferred to the rats.
The litter box is not in the same room as the rats and the cats are no longer allowed in there (its been about 2 weeks since they have), whats my real worry about this?
Any suggestions?

And I don't wanna start a new thread but what do I have to do in regards to the whole worms thing. All 3 cats will be getting the meds they give us, I'm assuming I need to wash all bedding and vaccuum everything. Is there anything else I need to cover?

I have seen this inquiry lots of times and if the rats don't get into the litter box you are just fine :)
Wicked! Thanks so much Shelagh!

Patrick had worms when i got him. The vet did research and he was able to have a tiny tiny dose of Dog Wormer (not sure what type). He was put on a 7 day course i think.. or maybe 5...

Unless the rats come into direct contact with the feces, you are fine :)

As for dealing with the worms at home, sanitize your litter boxes, vacuum well (for any stray litter) and wash your hands REALLY well!!

there are no worms that can be transfered from cat to rat even if he ate feces. tapeworm can be transfered to cat from rat but only if cat eats rat.
Then there's not a whole lot that the worm could do to the rat, eh?

Good bit of info!

These have all been done and I even washed all the bedding that the cats come in contact with.
Everything should be good in a couple of days, they got their meds last night!!

Thanks so much, you guys rock!
