Can somebody tell me....

What to do with my rats when they want out... Like what to do when they want to play with something? Oh, and does anyone know an easier way to make a hammock? Instead of sewing.. and ugghh.. all that...
I'm just trying to find some stuff that they can play with, and I've ran out of idea's....
Please help, I hate to see them bored.... I got them playing with some string that I had, and I took them breifly outside[hence the dogs were outside in the front] and let them play around, but it was pretty cold, so they had to go back inside.
Didn't want there toesies to fall off.
WEll lets see, i've head of Toilet papper rolls, which i've recently have done, and.. hammock, and chew blocks, which i have both. But I don't know what else I want to give them! Well if anyone has any idea's please tell
OOHH, and how do you buy a harness, that you KNOW will fit them? >.< because the only one that i found at petsmart/petco, was a freaking Ferrett one, which i love farretts and all, but i'm looking for RATS people RATS.. bleh. anyway, I was just wondering, if a ferret harness will fit them, since i don't want them to run off somewheres.

cardoboard boxes, milk cartoons, some kind of tunnel things are good toys. or if you have an old blanket to give them. Mine love having my star wars blanket on the bed and they'll spend hours tunneling around under it lol
You can buy harness for rats the only thing is if they'll stay on them or not. Mind wouldn't keep it on, they'd roll around and slip out of it. So I just took the harness back.

For hammock, I fold a towel in half, and then attach a strap at each of the four corners. I actually stitch the strap to the corner just because it's more durable this way. I imagine you could just cut a hole and put the strap through it. Then you can tie the straps to the cage.
My Meara loves to go in between the two layers and sleeps there!

And put acouple of towels, and your right, they do love them.
They love the towels more than the hammock..

I find the best thing for rats is the running around, the climbing, exploring and of course human interaction. The girls probably just wants more time with you.

Haha! They got plenty of time with me this morning, around 6:00 and last night around.... 3:30.. lol I stayed up tooooo late...
But I have no school on Monday. So, I guess It's ok..
And they always are running about...

PVC pipe from the hardware store can be hung from the bars in the cage with zipties! It's fun to run in and out of all day or just snuggle up for a nap. You can use old shirt sleeves or even old shirts as hammocks too. Just string a rope or a chain through and hang it in the cage. We keep buying fun-looking bird toys too. They seem to really like the rope ones with the wood pieces on them!
