It has been so nice out I have opened the windows in the house...let some fresh air in...I do this all year but more so once weather is nice and can be left open longer with out freezing us all. My Ratties are in a room under a window which has a large flowering hedge outside it...forsythia, lilac, honeysuckle and some other things...I have noticed since the forsythia has begun to flower one of my ratties has been sneezing...but its not soundng wet more of a clearing her nose, like when and animal smells something they don't like or what not...she is active and eating and otherwise seems well but alot of the clearing of the nose...if figured it would pass but its not..doesn't seem to be getting worse either but...consistant...I am calling the vet to see if they can have a listen make sure her lungs and all are good but wondering about allergies...since this was all brought on with the change of season and pollen and...Of course its also shedding season for my cats and dogs and we jst laid a new floor in our room which stirred up a lot of dust when taking the old flooring out(not ratties room)...so might not just be the flowering bush...but we keep the room door closed most of the time...so other animals not in bothering ratties while we are not around.
The other rats seem fine too...not sneezing...not real discharge from eyes or nose on any of them...just the normal stuff when they wake up...
Thoughts... experiences ...anyone?

I don't see why not. This spring has been extra bad for allergens also, so that might not help. I'm not usually one to suffer from seasonal allergies but I've had an itchier nose than usual over the last week, so maybe rats who wouldn't normally have problems might also get extra nose tickles.

I've seen before that they can, my friends find their sneezes super cute too.

It must be said that the highlight of one of my ratty sneeze periods (summer) was when my GF at the time had the rat on her shoulder, she looked over at it and the darling thing sneezed all over her face :) Who says rats cant be trainned to detect evil?
