Can rats catch

Human bronchitis or pneumonia from thier owners? I recently got out of the hospital for bronchitis and pneumonia, and I want to know if its safe to handle my baby.

I'm pretty sure you can't infect your rats but some people might say differently.

I think it depends on what virus/bacteria led to the pneumonia/bronchitis. Most can't be transmitted between species, but some (like Staph infections) can. Personally, unless it were some scary antibiotic-resistant strain, I would not be terribly worried about it. If you want to be sure, you can try asking your doctor or your vet, but they may not even know for sure.

I've been letting my mother feed and clean him and such. Just to be safe.

I miss having him around but I'm still coughing and sneezing.


At least I can talk to him. Being in the hospital was hell, I missed him so badly.

If you are on antibiotics, I think you are safe.
