Butterz Eye Wound

So, I just found what looks, to me, like a nasty wound on/in Butterz eye. What I need to know is how best to treat it. Here are the best pics I could get.

Eeegghhhhh the pic is a little hard to tell, is there any injury to the actual eye or is it just the surrounding area?

I keep trying to look but eye stuff freaks me out too much LOL.

It looks like the injury is on the outside as well as on the front part of the eye ball. Is the eye staying the same, or shrinking/swelling or discolouring? If its staying the same I advise picking up human grade eye ointment with an ab (polysporin) but without steroids in it to put on the eye twice a day. See if that help. IF you see any changes that I mentioned, then get your beautiful boy to the vet.

If it's just AROUND the eye, your rattie will probably keep it clean himself - just monitor it for infection/swelling/discharge. If the actual eye is injured, I would take him to the vet.

Thanks guys. I'm going to keep an eye on it and make sure it's clean. I can't tell if the actual eyeball is injured but if I see any of the signs mentioned, it's vet time.
