I recently adopted a new boy at he had signs of early bumblefoot, but it was very little and i thought he'd get better with the environment change. Now i noticed one of his toes is swollen, but it doesn't look like it was stuck or hurt... can it be that the bumblefoot evolved? Does it appear on the pad alone or the toes as well?

I know how to prevent it, but since none of my boys got it before, i don't know how to cure it... advice?

Then it can't happen on the toe?
Man i have no idea what it is then. I had rats with stuck toes before and it didn't look like this at all. One of the toes is swollen and the other has a sort of thin black ring around the nail... the skin is kinda dry. No ideas what it can be?

Sounds like an injury, maybe a toe bite from another rat?

That's what's bugging me, there's no signs of any cuts or bites... just swollen and dry skin :?
I think i'll take a photo tomorrow... meanwhile, how are you doing dear? I haven't been able to log in since forever but i haven't forgotten all of you, and definitly haven't forgotten my ratties ;)

Hi there Jo :)
I took the pic but then... my computer crashed. I'm in the middle of fixing it. Toe is the same, swollen. But i'm beginning to think he must have gotten it stuck somewhere, cause well... there hasn't been such an active little rattie on that cage since crazy Syd was a baby xD
