Brenna VIDEOs , how bad is this??? see third post

Brenna has taken a turn for hte worse

she's sucking in her sides to breathe she's all spikey

i tried to do the nebs but she totally freaked out this time

she's had her meds doxy adn baytril and some pred


what else can i do, i feel totally helpless?

no vet in til tuesday

Do you have an inhaler? I'd give that a try.
And coupage... I've noticed that my rats with pulmonary abscesses seemed to benefit from coupage.

this is a few minutes ago, sometimes her fur is not spikey and poufed up but most of the time it is, and it varies, sometimes its really puffed up and sometimes it's jsut a little puffy

sometimes her sides suck in, other times she breathes like she is in this video

Was the second vid soon after taking meds? She looks so much better.

first video was last night, before meds (and in fact, I only got about half her baytril into her but all of the pred)

second video was around noon today, no meds yet today (we're on a midnight and noon schedule, just happened that way)

How does she breathe when she is not smelling anything... like, when she is resting or in a hammock or something?

In those videos it looks like she is "exploring breathing" (i.e. OMG! Must smell everything! kinda thing)

I agree with crumbilina, she is sniffing/exploring in those vids. It's hard to video a rat at rest, they get all busy when they spot us.
It does look like some laboured breathing but I've seen much much worse.
