Not my rat, just asking for someone else who thinks their 8 week old has a PT.

Is it just me that thinks that is near to impossible?

is this the same person on Goose? Her breeder friend is trying to tell her the baby has a brain tumor due to hormones...

wouldn't a rat exhibiting pt signs at that age be much more likely to be experiencing seizures of some kind?( i havn't read the thread on gm, just curious...)

I don't think all rats with PT have seizures. In my experience, it's only as a PT grows that the rat starts having seizures, but death can occur before that. Sorry if that comes across as insensitive or blunt, it's not meant to.

My rats with PT have only ever had seizures near the very very end, if at all. :sad3:

Same with mine, I've only had one or two have seizure near the end.
But a rat that has been overdosed with say ivermectin or revo could have neuro symptoms mimicking PT. Could that have been a possibility in that young boy?

She told me that her vet diagnosed a brain tumour AND inner ear infection and she has all the meds as of yesterday (don't know what meds).

Sorry, I was unclear. I was implying that the symptoms would be from seizures from some other source, and that PT was unlikely. Something other than PT causing seizures, making them think it was a PT.

Could there be other types of brain tumours in rats, other than ones in the pituitary gland? Do you know how the vet diagnosed the brain tumour Rachel?

No idea... I kind of give up trying to help this person. I'm apparently harrasing them as I sent them a PM suggesting softer foods as their rat is having trouble swallowing.

I think the vet just examined the rat there, and told them it was inner ear infection and PT. The vet doesn't have any real way to tell, though.
