Anyone that's been looking at my other post will know I'm getting a friend for my little boy this week as he is all alone. Today though during playtime inthe living room, he kept trying to get to my girls who live behind the couch (in the dining room). He was very persistent. He has met the girls, through the bars a few times so he knows they're there. I was trying to distract him from disappearing behind the couch but moving him towards other toys, stroking him, tickling him and he BIT me. Not hard but took a small bit of skin off. He was fine after and ran all over me like he usually does but then when i wa stroking him he bit me again...but hard. Drew blood on my thumb and my hand (which is now blooming aching).
I'm really worried that if I get a baby rat (around 6/8 weeks I think he will be) that Rfor will be agressive with him too. I don't know why he bit me. When I first got him he used to do it gently when i did something he didn't like but this tim I was just stroking/tickling him.
Did he bite because he didnt want me to touch him?
Was he showing agression?
Was it because he can smell my girls?
He stood on his back legs after as if to say 'don't mess with me', but only for a few seconds. He didn't puff his fur up or anything either.

What do I do? Do I get him speyed?
Do I get him a friend and hope he's not agressive?

He has been fine since he bit me. I put him in his cage becasue I was bleeding quite a bit, but I've had m hand in there and he's not bitten me, not shwed any agression at all. Come to think of it, the only time he has done this is when he's been onthe floor, never in his cage or when he's been on me.
I don't want to get a new friend and them not get along and have TWO lone rats.

You people on here alwyas give me some advice - HELP!

The smells of the girls can definitely make him go crazy. Make sure when you're stroking him not to touch his sides, just pet his head. Meeting the girls through the bars is not good for him.

He wasn't meant to meet the girls..he escaped and.got behind the couch.
Will I be able to get him a friend still or will another rat get bitten too...and it was when i toucjed his sides, whys that? Can he be in the same room as the girls....will he calm down if I put him upstairs...with a friend of course or he would be very lonely.

I would still get him a friend... if he was being aggressive, you would be in massive pain right now. A serious rat bite is very painful and you'd be bleeding all over the place. So what he did was either a warning of him losing control of his manners because he's crazy for the ladies. Eventually he should get used to their smells and accept that he won't meet them.

Ok, brilliant...I was in pain but not massively and I was bleeding...quite a bit, but I do bleed a lot. This morning, its more of a very deep scratch.
The girls have just come back, leas than a week ago, so its all new smells again. I was worries I wasn't going to be able to keep them in the same room. Luckily, it is just smells, they can't see each other. I'll go ahead with getting him a friend and hope he settles him down.

Thanks

Ok, its happened. Again. Bit me again. Its definately hormones and its driving me crazy. He's not happy like this, he doesn't play, he just tries to have 'fun' with my arm/hand and all he wants to do is get to the girls. He is booked in for castration om Thursday
hopefully that will help.

Poor little guy, he's having a hard time with his hormones. A neuter should change all that. :) And then he can have girlfriends!
Be sure to wait 2 weeks after the neuter before he meets the girls again. Just to make sure his tank is empty. lol
