Bite Help

I was giving the guys some leftover spagetti and Seamus got a little overzealous and chomped down on my finger. I accidentally dragged him out of the cage and he's scratched my middle nail and punctured a bit of the skin. I've washed it bit now my hand feels funny and there's a weird feeling down the centre of my arm. What should I do? I tend to get hives from contact with their claws and tail hairs so I could react...plus I'm a generally worrisome person lol I need some reassurance that my arm isn't going to blow up overnight - I feel sick just worrying about it! Should I take ibuprofen?

Dunno what to tell you, I've only been bitten once, it healed within a few days. All I did was bactine it, didnt even use a bandaid.

Ibu is a good idea to prevent any swelling.

Clean it with a disinfectant and keep it clean. Did he puncture the nail? I would take Ibu or something like it, for pain killer and anti-inflammatory goodness. Just keep an eye on it.

I would take some Ibuprofen/Tylenol to help with the pain. Clean your hand with an anti-bacterial soap. (make sure it all gets rinsed out)
If available, take a small amount of sea salt and mix it with warm water. Soak your hand in the sea salt, and then rinse it off to keep it from getting dry. (Don't use normal table salt because it contains iodine, which isn't really good for healing wounds..)
If you're worried about swelling, put some ice/an ice pack on your wounds.

I was going to say the same thing - something like Benadryl if you think you might have an allergic reaction.

Eheheh sorry for panicking guys >.< I was getting ready to go to bed at the time and just got all worried. He has punctured the base of my nail a lil bit, but it's fine if not a teensy bit sore! I washed it and put on some hand sanitizer as I couldn't find my wound wash spray and just went to bed. Once I stopped feeling so panicky about it, the pain in my hand went away (must've been my mind making that one up!) and it hasn't swollen :joy:

I'm gunna have to really try and train them out of this food desperation thing...he didn't do it on purpose poor guy >.< And I ended up flinging him D: Luckily wasn't too far but I still had to check him over and give him kisses lol.

Today, my girl Ivy actually bit my finger because she thought it was food. Punctured my nail bed. *Ouch*!
