I get the injection baytril now, given orally. It is about 50.00 for a bottle that has 20 mil. I have a few rats that need constant meds the second they come off of it, they are congested again.

I am trying to decide if it will be more cost efficient for me to get the pills or the bottle as i am now.

Not sure if the pills would make more doses than the bottle of liquid does.

good question lol what do you recommend? he dont carry them but they will order them for me :)

The one I get is 15mg. The dose I've had on my males has usually been around 1/4 pill.. I find it easier to get them to take, as mine at least is meat flavoured.

I have no experience with Baytril pills so I'm not even sure what size they come in lol. Here's how I look at it:

- you get 20mL of 50mg/ML Baytril for $50

- so you are getting 1000mg of Baytril for $50

Once you find out what mg the pills are you can just compare how many mg you would get for $50 in the pills. I hope that helps :)

I'm fairly certain the injectable is considerably cheaper than the pills.

It is more so not having to drive an hour, so what would be more long lasting... When I run out it is an hour drive there and back so I am trying to make less trips i guess.

I have a bottle of injectable Baytril on hand all the time. It lasts a LONG time. Even though it is very bitter tasting, my ratties don't seem to mind it. I do put it in something like a little cereal and they just lick it off the spoon.
If you get a bottle with a decent expiry date, then it can be good for 1.5+ years.
I do dispense 10 ml at a time to a vacuum tube as the top gets worn out with holes over time. You need to remember to keep it in a dark place. I actually even cover the vacuum tube with duct tape to help block the light, and keep it in a drawer.
I would think a liquid would be easier than pills - I can pill a cat, but how do you pill a rat?! LOL

I would mix it up.. I know mine keeps for a long time, but I go through it at a decent rate. I have 3 girls that need it constantly and a boy. Right now I have only two on it, so it will last longer since i moved the others to a different med. I wouldnt pill them, i would mix it here so i could use it that way. I just know my doxy pills last me a while so I was wondering if It would be wiser to use baytril pills as well.

Yeah my injectable baytril has had expiration dates of a year. So he could just give you a few bottles at once perhaps?

He would if i asked, I still have to figure out how much liquid a bottle of pills would make lol For now i have a whole bottle of baytril so i am good for a little while.

I used to get 50 ml bottles of injectable baytril at around $100
Now, with so many rats, I get 250 ml bottles of injectable horse baytril that is twice as strong, at around $400

Since the injectable baytril has a long shelf life, and you are going through it so fast, try getting the 50 ml bottle

It has slowed down now, I think it will last a bit long but that is really good information sq thanks.
