Missy's been barbering herself for a while. I've seen her do it, and I treated for mites when it started and recently just in case. I can't tell if her skin looks normal though. I don't think it was always this red?

I don't think it's suppose to be that red...
Maybe it's just irritated from him scratching at it? And it's on his belly, I bet marinating in ratty pee isn't helping it much. Can rats get diaper rash? lol

Yup Aida they can get a rash from urine.

Well I'm glad I'm not the first to encounter this! I couldn't find anything like it. I will see what I can come up with to try moisturizing her.

My vet recommended Aveeno with oatmeal for skin irritations. And to stop the barbering I used Sally Hansen Nail Biter and it worked but make sure the skin is not broken when you apply it as it stings a little.(I tried it on myself first)

Thank you, I'm going to have to go out and buy some today.

Her skin does look less irritated today but it can't hurt. I'm also going to try benadryl in case she is barbering so much due to allergies.
