azithromycin - once, or twice per day?

Maz is on .04 of zithromax (200mg/5mL), vet instructions say once a day. Should this be twice a day?

I asked the vet if she would combine it with another antibiotic, she said that wasn't standard practice, but she'd check her books. Came back and said there wasn't anything in her books about pairing it with something and she didn't think it was necessary. I have some enrofloxacin at home, is that a good one to pair it with?

Maz has been on the zithro once a day for almost a week, with minimal improvement. With his previous mild resp issues, he's bounced back very quickly on doxy and enrofloxacin. Vet thought maybe he'd built a tolerance to those, been on them several times in the last year.

Can't help very much with the dosage, but when I used it, it was once a day. And yes, it can be combined. I combined it with Doxy, then with Baytril.

If the zithro is once a day, would the baytril be once a day as well? The dosage I have for this baytril is for twice daily dosings, but I wonder if it would change to be given once daily? Or do zithro and baytril in the a.m., and just baytril in the p.m? Lol confusing...

When we do zithro, we do 7 days at twice a day and then 21 days at once a day. My vet said it's best to hit it hard the first week.

That was kind of how I thought it should be. Does my current dosage look okay to be done twice daily?

I use zithro twice a day myself. I have 2 on it right now. Unforunately when you said "wasn't in her books" probably means she's working on outdated info and probably needs to go onto the vet forums.

Ya. I have no clue what books she uses, but for the 4 years I've known this vet, everytime I suggested something from the Rat Guide or something someone on the forum suggested, it's never been in her books. That's why I prefer to see the other veterinarian at this clinic, he's way more open to going online and trying new things (he also happens to be very handsome...lol). Unfortunately, I don't always have a choice.
