This might be nothing but I just noticed on Ralphie my oldest boy, 5 months a hair coming from hisrectum with a piece of poop stuck to it. It looks like one of my long hairs, not sure how/when/why he ate it or if it's some type of thread. But when I was a kid one of my cats ate a string that got wrapped up in his intestines and he had to be put to sleep. When my mom notice it coming from his rectum she tried to pull it a little bit and he screamed  So on Ralphie I knew not to do that so I managed to cut it off about halfway down so the poop wasn't hanging or pulling on it.This looks like the same thing that happened with our cat but on a smaller scale so I'm kind of nervous. Will he be able to digest it and get it all of the way out? What should I do, am I overreacting? :sad3:

If it seems just like your cat, and he hasn't finished passing the thread/hair/whatever, then you should definitely see a vet If your cat had to be PTS for it, you should immediately be heading out the door to be sure that your rat doesn't have to have the same fate if at all possible.

Keep us updated!

I've seen that happen before and the rat passed the poop and hair normally. But if you suspect he's in pain, then I'd call a vet.
My sister's cat had the same thing happen to her but with twine. She passed it fine, no problems with her.

Whew! He seems to have passed the whole thing, it was nearly a foot long and I'm 99% sure it was one of my hairs... I have no idea why or how he ate it? Just glad he passed it ok, gonna keep a close eye on him though and make sure hes eating/drinking/pooping normally because of the past history with my cat it naturally makes me worried Thanks for the quick responses!
