So since I got Briar and Belle, Templeton has been acting very anti-social and honestly kind of mad. Their cage is in the same room as his so I'm not sure if it's the smell of them that is getting to him or what. Before I got the girls he was constantly wanting to be out and held and he would brux and popcorn all day and now he just stays in his igloo and will only brux if I love on him while he is in his cage. During out time he panics and hides in a corner. The girls and him have no interaction right now because I do not want to risk an accident but once he is neutered they will all be sharing a cage. I'm scared that when that happens he is going to be terrfied or a big bully! Even if I take him out of the rat room during out time and let him run around the office or my bedroom he is still scared and either climbs in my lap and starts shaking or hides somewhere. He is closer to 2 years old and has been alone most of his life because his previous owner did not do any research on rats before getting him. Could he be so used to be alone that the girls have being here have really terrified him to the point of not wanting to come out of his cage? :sad3:

I seriously don't think it's the girls that is freaking him out, maybe its the added cage in the room. I remember once, someone was having a similar issue and it ended up being a balloon in the room so really, anything new in the environment can set them off. Also his behaviour now is no indicator how he will be when meeting the girls.

He seems to be doing much better! I think what may have been the cause was that when I got the girls I rearranged the rat room to make room for their cage. Since it's been about a week since the big change was made, he is mostly back to being himself. He is very curious about the girls now and during out time he spends much of his time trying to figure out how to climb up the table their cage is on

He's a determined little guy. I'm glad he's back to normal. Now you really need to focus on keeping the boy away from the girls. That will be some challenge!

Actually, not funny .... hope the girls are spayed asap .... before you end up with two litters .....

Well I find it funny because 1. There is absolutely no way he can get up there which is why I placed it there and 2. Because he is being neutered on Friday.

I'm not dumb enough to believe that I could just leave him out. I watch him during out time.
