Hello everyone.
I'm sorry, but this is not going to be a happy first post from me. :sad3:
I found a lump on Mariel the other day- it's about the size of the top nuckle of my thumb and appeared virtually overnight and has since remained the same for a few days. There appears to be a small purpleish spot on it, and the lump itself seems to be under the skin/where the fat would be if she had much. (she's a pretty fit old lady)
Does anyone know a way to gauge wether it is a tumor or an abscess?
I am not happy with my current vet (who is pretty close to where I live) as he told someone else I know with rats that any bump is a death sentance :gaah: , so I'd have to go pretty far to get to the vet I found through recommendations on FancyRats. So- if anyone knows of vets in the Greater Toronto Area, especially in the Waterloo/Kitchener/Cambridge/Guelph region, please let me know. (A kind person on LJ has recommended Dr. Munn- they also recommended I try here and see if anyone has any other thoughts.) No matter what I'm taking her to see someone- it would be nice if it was someone reasonably close, though.
Also, if anyone can think of any measures I might take to help keep it from growing- like a change in diet or something- please let me know.
