Well lets start off with she is a soft squishy girl who is very cute and absolutely loves to slide/fall off the couch so she can explore.

She is doing better tonight, she is able to lift her head and motor around pretty good. :D At one point she was using her head to walk with and resting it on the ground. She was doing pretty good with hydration but I think tonight I will make sure she gets a full 5 cc's of ringer's lactate sub-q.

BUT when I was over at bruxxy's after her initial issues, I noticed something and showed it to bruxxy, who said it wasn't there before. I honestly don't remember it when she was here either. Hmmm.

Tell me this isn't one crooked nose?

So tonight I had AliceMcMallis over and asked her to hold Amelia so I could take pics of her face. I noticed this last night but needed to show others.
Crooked mouth? Or Jaw?

And a really cute dangling shot of this sweet passive crooked girl.

What do you think? Possibly stroke? Or a head trauma by a fall? I saw a crooked mouth with Maya but she held it that way, this seems a bit different.

She likes to explore like my Olivia, off the bed to the floor.

WOW I don't know what it was but it's interesting to see the crookedness. Poor doll.

even and normal.

I am starting to think trauma or injury. I have seen some owwie stretches.

I wonder if I should try one dose of metacam tomorrow night and see how she does on that? Still getting some anti-inflammatory but also getting pain relief.

I think trauma ... perhaps a vet visit/ consult

My poor Jonathan had to be pts as his upper jaw was so badly broken ... this isn't the same but should be looked into ...

Definitely looks like an injury to me. It looks like she may have fell on the right side of her face and maybe her dragging her face on the ground is a sign of pain?

Or maybe since you did not notice it at first it happened to her while she was sick?

I will talk to Dr Munn tonight when I hopefully see her, as to possible x-rays etc

edited to add: I am rushing home now to pick her up and bring her to Doc M, hopefully she can squeeze us in.

I hope you are able to get her in today. Could she have some large tumor in her head somewhere that is distorting it?

OK I am just home (soooo tired, what a day )

Her jaw is not broken (its very stable), there's no abscesses or masses visible in her mouth (those little doodad things that they put in their mouth to see inside ...rats don't like them much...haha)

There's no signs of infection. Her heart is strong, she got thoroughly palpated for internal masses...clear.

Dr. Munn took pics and is putting it up on her medical boards/forums. I have sent her pics of only a month ago so these other vets can see the difference and the time frame.

She has only seen this before with the shift like that when there were cancerous masses along the jawline.

Sooo not good news, but then again PT wasn't great either was it?

She will stay on baytril and I will switch the steroid to metacam for pain. IF she does have PT on top of it, it will just have to progress, pain management is waaaay more important.

We are now at Wait and See...my Fav Place

Did Dr. Munn give you any idea of when she might be able to make a diagnosis or does she think that it might remain a mystery? If there were no masses visible in her mouth or face is it possible that she won't have cancer? I hope... I'll keep her in my thoughts, poor girl!

The only way to truly know is a necropsy but thats a bit too late.

We discussed x-rays but she really thought that it would be a tiny lesion and we might miss it.

Its not a confirmed diagnosis but its a likely one. I just hope she bounces back with pain meds and can be a happier girl. :)

Well I come home tonight to a different ratgirl

Very responsive, turns to either side quickly, moves much better, actually tried a test nibble and tried to get away when I picked her up! Much better than the limp apathetic little beast she was. Who knows if it was the baytril or the change to the metacam. I personally think it was the pain relief. Lots of us feel just awful with bad headaches but if we take meds we feel much better and more lively :D
