I just found this out randomly but it seems that rats go GAGA for young coconut water. Not to be mistaken with the fat laden milk from mature coconuts. I'm talking about the clear water that comes from coconuts that still have jelly like flesh inside. From what I understand, it has apparently been used in a pinch as replacement IV fluids. More info on the nutritional content: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coconut_water
But more importantly, when I offered a taste of it to my guys they went nuts for it, far more enthusiastic than I've seen them go for the pedyalite. They simply would not stop drinking it. Plus it's reasonably cheap, you can get one for like $3 at the grocery store (less if you go to an asian store) and that will have about 2 cups of water inside, which is sterile when you open it and you can freeze the leftovers ... and eat the flesh inside. The best stuff is the real deal but it's hard to open ... alternatively it's also sold in tetra packs or cans ... just make sure you get the no sugar added kind.
I just thought I'd put it out there as a suggestion if your guys are being picky when they need electrolyte replacement.
