Hey!

I have a question and for some reason my brain isn't working right. I have a sniffly rattie who is about 10 weeks old and I can't remember which ABs are ok to give to younger rats. I have Baytril, Doxy, Penecillan, Tylan, and amoxi on hand. What do you think is the best to try on her. Not really wanting to stunt the growth if possible as they are still really tiny as it is.

We have used Doxy for mild respiratory issues in babies under 6 months. Baytril is one that shouldn't be used under 6 months old....but in a do or die situation, it's worth the possible risks (it's been said to hinder bone development or cause joint issues).

funny thing is that the stunted skeletal growth was in puppies, never in rats but its assumed the same thing will happen with young rats. I use baytril on babies all the time if warranted. :)

I've used Baytril in 4 week old rats. I've talked to my vet about the cartilage problems in young puppies but it is not an issue with rats.
I've also used zithromax in very young rats.
