a question about pests ..

and no , im not talking about the inlaws ...

i have an odd situation going on here - one of our boys has what appears to be lice .. (we have had our fair share of fun with them before when we bought a large bag of shavings from a feed store) .. the rub on this is - ive used revolution on him and they dont seem to be dying :gaah: In the past, one dose of revolution does it and we are good ... the other funny thing is the other ratties dont seem to have them so i dont think its from bedding or food as altho he is in a seperate room from the others, they all get their food and bedding from the same source and it hasnt been shared .. any ideas?

What do they look like? Are they moving? Is your revolution expired maybe?

it's a minimum of 48 hours NOT 12 hours...12 hours won't work.

Maybe you could try Ivermectin? I do remember once Revolution didn't work on buggies on my crew, I had to do the Ivermectin.

My vet likes using ivermectin better as well, for mites anyways.

they look like the little red lice guys we had before ..sigh .. i do have some ivermectin - actually enough to do the whole durned colony with and then some lol but i read somewhere that the little buggers are actually resistant to it now which is why people use Revolution ..its worth a try tho ..

yes, i do freeze everything ..as a matter of fact he hasnt had cloth or wood in his cage for 2 wks now ..i also break down and clean the cage really well .. the revolution is not expired either .. its a brand new batch ..

okies, well i will try out the ivermectin and see what goes from there
